Elder Talbert W. Swan, II was called to the Gospel ministry at the young age of 15. Being born and raised in the Church of God in Christ, Rev. Swan has been active in the church all of his life. Rev. Swan was educated at the University of Massachusetts and Western New England College, where his undergraduate studies were in computer science. In addition to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science, Pastor Swan holds a Bachelor of Science in Religous Studies, a Master of Arts in Urban Ministry a Master of Divinity and Graduate Certificates in Urban Ministries and Faith-Based Economic Development
Pastor Swan is a two-term member of the Alumni Council at Hartford Seminary and a member of the Black Alumni Council of the Harvard Divinity School. He is also a graduate of Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.
Rev. Swan was ordained in 1991 and served as Associate Minister at the Spring of Hope COGIC until he founded the Solid Rock Church of God in Christ. He served as the Jurisdictional Chief Adjutant to Bishop L.C. Young, the Jurisdictional Youth Department President, and the Jurisdictional Public Relations Chairman in the First Jurisdiction of Massachusetts. He currently serves under Bishop Bryant Robinson, Jr. as the Chief of Staff/Executive Secretary in the Greater Massachusetts Jurisdiction. Pastor Swan is one of the most socially active ministers in the State of Massachusetts and is consistently sought out for assistance with issues such as: police brutality, housing discrimination, employment assistance, and spiritual guidance. Because of his activism, Rev. Swan was featured on the cover of the Valley Advocate and his work has been highlighted in such publications as the Boston Globe, New York Times and Washington Post in addition to being featured on Fox News, CNN and BET. Pastor Swan is the author of four books and has gained respect from throughout the community because of his consistent efforts to bring about positive change in the city. He is highly sought after as a speaker, counselor and advisor.
Pastor Swan is a columnist for the African American Point of View Newspaper, the host of the Spoken Word Radio talk show and the Trumpet in Zion Television Broadcast. He is a contributor to the COGIC Centennial Bible.
